With something as obviously luxurious as a diamond ring, it is difficult to find a design that is both unique and sophisticated. The history of the design goes back to the beginning of the twentieth century, when aesthetic standards reacted against the Art Neauveau movement in a more simple direction. Both modern and artistically, rings in this design embody the modern classic.

Do not let the many unaffected designs mislead you into thinking that the historical context of Art Deco is anything other than opulent, even exotic. One of the earliest developers and manufacturers of this design, Viennese artist Josef Hoffman, opened his workshop the Wiener Werkstatte in 1903, but by 1910, such high-profile people as Scheherazade of the famous Russian Ballet were known to wear Art Deco jewelry.

Luckily for people who appreciate this movement a style but are not necessarily the affluent kind to which it first appealed, the the introduction of large-scale manufacturing was a prominent aspect of the Art Deco movement; its purpose, therefore, is to not only be available to the very wealthy, but others with a discerning taste, as well. Whether the ring is for an engagement or a wedding, or is only a general gift, the Art Deco design – if not the accompanying diamond or gem – can be found at very reasonable prices.

As with any other kind of ring, a diamond ring of the art deco style is not only representative of strong emotion, but additionally is an investment. The value of, as was said before, such a modern classic can not be underrated.
